Reminders

Students should bring charged chromebooks to school each day.
Water bottles are helpful to stay hydrated. These should only contain plain water.
Wear rubber-soled tennis shoes on gym days in order to participate.
Students may bring a small snack to enjoy before recess. The snack should be one portion due to limited eating time.
Please make sure your child has a well fitting mask that covers both their mouth and nose. If you would like, they can bring a spare and change it after lunch.

Fun Run

It’s that time of year when the PTA holds its major fundraiser…the Arno Fun Run! Don’t forget to register your child online for this great event.

PTA Membership Roundup

This year the PTA is having a “Gumball Machine” membership drive theme! Each classroom has a Gumball Machine on display on the bulletin board inside the front of the school. From September 7th through October 22nd, we will add one gumball for each PTA member that joins per classroom! There is also the option to donate extra money to the PTA to purchase an extra gumball for your class Gumball Machine. As an additional incentive, the PTA is offering the top three competing classes a prize!

Cost – $7 per member

The classes with the most gumballs (highest percentage of gum balls according to how many students are on the class roster) at the end of October will receive a prize!

1st Place – Pizza Party

2nd Place – Ice Cream Sundaes

3rd Place – Popcorn

State Tissue Box Project

Students chose their state in class last week. They brought home the slip below, which needs to be signed and returned on Monday, 9/20.
We will complete the research portion of this project during class on Monday, 9/20.
If you have empty, rectangular tissue boxes, we would greatly appreciate them! Otherwise, I will send home boxes I have emptied from our class supply on Monday, 9/20.
Completed projects are due on Oct. 1st

ELA Lesson 2 – My Brother Martin

Every week your child will read an anchor text as well as a paired text. The anchor text is used to work on fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary skills and strategies. The paired text may be similar in theme and or genre. This text will reinforce vocabulary usage. Student understanding of the anchor text and vocabulary will be assessed on Fridays.

Students will also work on grammar, vocabulary, and spelling throughout the week. Assigned spelling words will also be assessed on Fridays.
