We have had a great first week back! Thank you for all your help in making it a success.
Reminders
- Arrival is 8:30am. Students will be marked tardy after 8:40am. Students arriving after 8:40 will need to be walked into the office by a parent/guardian. Dismissal is at 3:30pm.
- Students may bring in a snack to enjoy each morning. If your child is participating, please send in only healthy options. Please refrain from sending in anything with peanuts/tree nuts for snack as we have students with allergies.
- Only regular, unflavored water may be put in student water bottles. Spills happen, and they are easier to clean when it’s just plain water.
- If chromebooks go home, please return them completely charged. We have limited outlets within the classroom.
- Please make sure to review and sign your child’s planner each night. We are working on building responsibility and this is one of the ways we ensure that work is being completed in a timely manner.

- This is an organization that hosts events after school for students, keeps parents up to date on events, and provides the teachers with support throughout the year. I encourage each of you to join and be a part of this community at Arno.
- When you sign up, please write “signed up for PTA” in your child’s planner. Your child will receive a classroom reward if you sign up.

Learning Calendar
I do my best to send home a learning calendar each week. This is an overview of what we will be working on in the classroom, as well as upcoming tests/quizzes. It is subject to change throughout the week as we may need to adjust our schedule. Please continue to check and sign your child’s planner each night. Thank you for your partnership!
The calendar will be posted to the blog each week, and your student will bring home a hard copy on Mondays.
Journeys Week 1 – Because of Winn-Dixie
Every week your child will read an anchor text as well as a paired text. The anchor text is used to work on fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary skills and strategies. The paired text may be similar in theme and or genre. This text will reinforce vocabulary usage. Student understanding of the anchor text and vocabulary will be assessed on Fridays.
Students will also work on grammar and spelling throughout the week. Assigned spelling words will also be assessed on Fridays.
The weekly story (with audio recording), spelling, and vocabulary lists are posted to Google Classroom weekly.
